It's that time of year AGAIN! We are all thinking, "how did we get here so quickly and quicker every year? Life has a funny way of going faster as we get older. I have noticed this so much since I made it to my mid-50s;
Birthdays!
Christmas
New Year
Valentines
Spring time
Easter
Summer fun
Halloween
Autumn
Winter
Christmas.......and on .....and on.
The cycle of life seems to get shorter and faster; before we know it, the process ends.
This is a reflective time of year for me, and more so lately as I am fast approaching 60, after being single for what is coming up for five years on 4th January.
Many of you who have read my blogs for a few years now will know that I am openly honest about not dating. I talk about being a very happy singleton, content in my skin, without needing a male companion.
So, my new partner in the business, who is also a coach, Melinda, tells me... "JB, you need to practise what you preach and stop using this as an excuse"🤭. I probably was, but in my defence, with launching my new business a few years ago, I would have been wrong to approach dating respectfully. Free time was not something I had, and why would I go out with the intention of dating, knowing I did not have the time to commit?
Now, a few years later, I have a few excuses. The business is excelling, and the team are expanding.
IT'S TIME TO DATE
I decided to date - but my rule from the conception of Select Connections and Select Events has always been that I do not date our clients. This rule is fundamental to me for many reasons.
In my next blog, I will let you know how my dating journey has gone, how empowered I feel and the many things I have learnt along the way.
It has been a real eye-opener for me, and I have met some lovely guys (I am not internet dating) along the way. I can honestly say this has been a more authentic way of dating.
I will not bore you now with all the details on this Christmas Eve evening, but I will do in the New Year when I regale you with all the funny, sincere and honest details of my later-in-life dating journey.
My point here is you would be surprised and delighted about how many lovely male and female singles, mid-later in life and, most importantly, how we perceive all the wrong ideas of what we want later in life about each sex!"!!!!
I wish you all a contented and warm Christmas Eve, a happy and relaxed Christmas Day and whatever you do on a New Year (me nothing - sofa, dogs, wine, NetFlix). My sincere hopes are that we all first have a healthy, happy, not lonely, enlightened 2023, where we step outside our comfort zone, do things we normally wouldn't and find the person we need to fill the space in the last chapter of our lives, to be content with, to not expect too much from, to relax with, as we have never relaxed before. To love in a way that is different from any other love we have ever had before;
Merry Christmas. May it be everything you wished for, in whatever capacity it is for you, and then make the best of it.
May 2023 be the year you decide to grab life by the short and curlies 🤭😁 Realise that we have only one short run at it and do what we need to do to make ourselves happy.
All the very best.
