1st January 2022 - where are all the years going!!
I, for one am relieved the Christmas/New Year season is all but done! Its time to put away the decorations and start the New Year feeling focused and refreshed.
I do find that the New Year offers me the opportunity to make some positive changes in my life.
I have learned not to come up with a list of unachievable resolutions but to reflect on the previous year and take time to identify things that have gone well and also not so well. Then set two personal intentions, for example;
I will try new things more often
I will be more honest with myself and with others
Resolutions or intentions are not all about cutting out somethings from our lives but adding to our lives.
I am feeling inspired today and I am going to set myself a challenge to learn a new skill (for others it could be a hobby) and I will not put pressure on myself by adding a time limit.
My challenge - I have always envied people who have mastered breathing techniques and mindfulness (but I have never actually really tried it). I am fully aware that Mindful meditation has many potential physical and psychological benefits for older adults, including better focus, enhanced calmness, less stress, and improved sleep. Research shows that mindfulness and meditation can reduce depression and pain, and boost emotional well-being.
I will keep you posted on my progress.
Now, its time for you to let me know what YOU are going to do to enhance your 2022?
